Human: The Ultimate Solution for AGI Safety and Major Human Challenges

April 12, 2023

Kicking off with a fundamental concept: the crux of most pressing societal issues we face today lies in our inability as a human race to reach a consensus on a grand scale. Our current recourse if we find something disagreeable is to rally a meeting, sign a petition, or make an attempt to gain traction through social media - an environment riddled with unchecked facts and ripe for individuals with large followings to sway public sentiment. Imagine the transformative potential if we could incorporate the democratic principle of 'one person, one vote' into thousands of global experiments every year without exception. Such an endeavor could rapidly usher in a vastly improved world.

One of the most popular topics this day is AI regulation. If Artificial General Intelligence or AGI, or an almost-AGI-level system, is developed within the next 15-50 years, we're wholly unprepared and doomed to fail. The governments are still stuck in the 1980s, and the possibility of differentiating AI-generated content from reality is becoming impossible daily.

The key to addressing these challenges lies in the collective intelligence of humanity. By improving alignment and coordination tools, we can create a "global brain" capable of collaborating with AGI rather than becoming extinct or enslaved. Humanity must work together as a coherent organism, involving everyone's collaboration and participation. We can start with the solution of online voting and principles described here.

The internet has served as a foundational block for building collective intelligence. Still, we need a more advanced system incorporating human capabilities at every level, including governance, voting, and economic redistribution methods. Unfortunately, only a few startups or endeavors are focused on AI Safety, especially compared to the hundreds of recently created AI-generated startups (over 100 in the latest YC batch alone). To my knowledge, no companies currently try to adopt current world changes but to improve society's weaknesses simultaneously.

Introducing Human

To address this problem, we started Human, building the foundation for collective intelligence to align it as an opposite force for AGI. Human decentralized infrastructure will serve as a public good for humanity, much like the Internet.

The first part of this infrastructure is Human ID - a unique, decentralized, self-sovereign identity. It's only issued by the protocol to real, unique individuals after verification. The Human ID SDK will make it easy for other products to integrate this uniqueness check seamlessly. We'll soon share a new post detailing the inner workings of the verification process. Stay tuned!

The Human Network operates as a layer-1 blockchain and a non-profit. It is wholly and equally owned by its participants with a Human ID. We plan to release and gradually open-source all components of this infrastructure throughout the year.

The Human App serves as a GUI for the underlying protocol, making it accessible to a broader audience. While we recognize that most people don't directly interact with protocols like HTTPS without a browser, providing an "end-to-end experience" is essential to ensure we onboard everyone to accomplish our mission. The protocol's open-source nature allows others to develop alternative interfaces, fostering innovation and expanding its potential reach.

By building Human, we aim to address immediate issues like distinguishing between AI and humans, combating online misinformation powered by fake accounts or bots, and laying the groundwork for solving any possible future problem by building better coordination tools. United, humanity can work together to overcome challenges and build a better future.

Everyone who believes in this mission should consider joining us. It might be the most critical mission of the century, if not the whole of history, and we are running out of time. Stay tuned for future news.
