Human App Privacy Policy
Updated: December 3rd, 2024
In this Privacy Policy, we describe how we at Human collect, use, store, and share your information when you use Human App, as well as when you communicate with us.
We do our best to be a good actor and act in accordance with our mission. This Privacy Policy is intended to cover as wide a spectrum of potential cases as possible. It does not describe everyday practices, which are much more limited in scope and limit access to your data to you alone.
About the information we collect and why we collect it
Human App is intended to provide users with a “sovereign identity” on the Human Network, i.e. trusted proof of identity that is held and managed only by the user and used to identify the user on the Human Network. This means that we may ask you to provide information that enables us to verify who you are. If you choose to enable certain Human App features, we may ask you to go through a “Know Your Customer” procedure, known as KYC.
Human App may also collect technical information about your device in order to interact with it. Please note that, at this time, we only collect anonymized diagnostic information from your device, and only to improve the user experience. Information that you provide when communicating with us is also covered by this Privacy Policy.
We collect the following information:
Personally identifiable information includes, but is not limited to, your name, phone number, email address, personal ID number, contact list, facial biometrics, selfie, and date of birth.
User content that you provide in your communications with us, as well as other content you voluntarily share with us. Please note that, at this time, we do not collect device identifiers and other identifiers tied to your mobile device.
How we protect your information
We take all commercially reasonable steps to ensure your information is protected in alignment with all applicable laws and regulations, as appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. We strive to exceed the requirements of all applicable laws and regulations. No information security architecture is completely impregnable, but we make sure that the effort required to compromise Human App’s data storage is disproportionately greater than the likely gain.
To this end, all information stored on the Human Network is encrypted, and distributed so that no single node contains a usable amount of personally identifiable information.
All communications undertaken by Human App on the Human Network are encrypted end-to-end.
Data retention and storage
We store your information only for as long as it is needed for you to continue using Human App and associated services, as well as to ensure that we meet our legal and regulatory obligations. The only exception is your face data: if you consent, we store it for one (1) year from the date it is collected. If we delete your information from our systems, we will ensure it is done securely and appropriately.
How we collect information
We collect your information in the following ways
Directly from information you enter in Human App and when you communicate with us.
For example, when you:
create an account
use our services
access our content
contact our support team
2. Through automated tracking and logs to collect anonymized technical information when you use Human App.
From third-party sources: we may source information from publicly-available data and third-party partners, such as fraud prevention providers and service vendors.
Please note that, at this time, we do not collect from third-party partners.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
Operate and manage our products and services. This includes identity verification and enhancing security.
Authorize you to create an account in Human App.
Communicate with you, including contacting you and responding to your messages.
Process and facilitate transactions and services.
Maintain account security, including through 2-factor authentication and potentially other security measures.
Prevent and address fraud, threats to our users or systems, and potential and real harm.
Prevent and address violations of Human policies, applicable laws, and regulations.
Analyze user behavior and trends in Human App in order to improve its user experience and performance.
Inform the user of products and offers that may be of interest. This may only include third parties with the user’s explicit consent.
Comply with our obligations under applicable laws and regulations.
To establish and exercise our rights as an organization and service provider, including addressing legal claims with/from regulatory authorities and in courts of law.
Notwithstanding the above, we may use information that does not identify you (including information that has been aggregated or de-identified) for any purpose that is not prohibited by applicable law. For information on your rights and choices in how we use your information, please see the “Your rights and choices” section below.
Third-party resources
Human App may be used in ways that connect it to third-party websites, platforms, and other resources (third-party resources) that we do not control. These resources may be governed by their own terms of use and privacy policies. They are not covered by this Privacy Policy, which applies only to Human App. We advise our users to check the terms of use and privacy policies for third-party resources.
